PROOF OF VACCINATION STATUS
As of September 22, 2021, proof of vaccination status is required to gain admission to City of Brampton Recreation Centres.
The Ontario Government has announced that individuals must be fully vaccinated and provide proof of their vaccination status to access certain settings starting September 22, 2021. This measure has been implemented to further protect Ontarians as the province continues to confront the Delta-driven fourth wave of COVID-19.
In accordance with Ontario regulations, the following proof of vaccination requirements apply for patrons visiting City of Brampton Recreation facilities beginning September 22, 2021.
|Activity||Proof of Vaccination|
|Adults 18 years and older accessing the facility for any purpose, including adults participating in a
rental and parents and guardians of youth participating in an organized sport or activity.
|Participants between 12 and 17 years of age using the fitness area/gym floor or other area with exercise
equipment or weights, or participating in drop-in and registered non-sports programs (including Arts, General Interest, Music, STEM).
|Participants 12 years and older spectating, including at sporting events, and participating in a rental.||REQUIRED*|
|Youth under 18 years of age actively participating in an organized sport, including training, practices, games and competitions.
This includes: sports leagues, drop-in and registered sports programs (including dance, shinny, gymnastics, rock wall and ninja parkour,
tennis, soccer, basketball, martial arts, swimming and skating).
*Unless participant qualifies for an exemption.
Please note that staff continue to review operational requirements and while we will do our best to ensure the screening process moves as quickly as possible, we ask that you plan to arrive early for your activity to ensure there is adequate time to complete the necessary checks. We appreciate your patience during this transition.
Individuals who cannot receive the vaccine due to medical exemptions will be permitted entry with a doctor’s note clearly indicating a COVID-19 vaccination exemption. This will be recognized until medical exemptions can be integrated as part of a digital vaccine certificate made available by the provincial government in October.
Beginning September 22, 2021, the following methods of proof of vaccination status will be accepted when visiting a City of Brampton Recreation Centre, along with one additional piece of personal identification:
Note: Proof of a negative COVID-19 test will not be accepted as an alternative to proof of full vaccination.
The City of Brampton has implemented enhanced safety measures to ensure the wellbeing of the public and City staff. The City remains committed to reintroducing programs and services in a manner that is consistent with prioritizing resident, staff, and community safety.
To prevent community spread of COVID-19 and emerging variants, Peel Public Health has updated its guidance and recommendations regarding the use of masks. These recommendations were approved by Brampton City Council on June 16, 2021:
